Our special guest is Mark O'Connor of Surfrider. In the last two years, he has focused on the pollution caused by cigarette filters. Cigarette filters are made of cellulose acetate a form of plastic. He is an Ambassador with the SDSU’s Center for Tobacco and the Environment along with being a member of the San Diego Sierra Club’s sustainability committee. Mark is the current Chair of the Encinitas Environmental Commission.

This is a casual event open to anyone who is interested in networking and learning more about Rotary and environmental causes. Pure Project has a spacious outdoor setting and is both family- and dog-friendly, making it a great place to relax and connect.

You are welcome to bring your own food/snack. We will have some pizza available as well. Donations are welcome. Craft beer and other beverages available for purchase.
